Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc. Receives Award of Excellence

For the 5th consecutive year in a row, Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc. was presented the prestigious Aluminum Association of Florida’s 2011 Award of Excellence in 3 out of categories at the organizations annual Aluminum, Hurricane & Home Improvement tradeshow and conference held at Mystic Dunes Resort in Celebration, FL on Friday and Saturday, November 11 – 12, 2011.

The awards represent the highest standards in overall project quality and craftsmanship within the aluminum and glass industry in the State of Florida.

The three (3) awards were for fabricated products and scopes of work completed by Mullet’s Aluminum at the new Palm Avenue Parking Garage.

The first Award of Excellence was in the Miscellaneous Metals category. This award was in recognition of the perforated aluminum “sails” and truss system that surrounds the exterior of the facility on three (3) sides of the parking garage.

The second Award of Excellence was in the Railing category. This award was in recognition of the fully welded, perforated aluminum panel railing system located in the primary foyer and the fully welded aluminum railing systems located in the exit stairways throughout the facility.

And the 3rd and final Award of Excellence was in the Canopies, Walkway Covers & Carports category. This award was in recognition of the large glass canopies that were installed over the pedestrian walkways.

In October, the Palm Avenue Parking Garage also received an Award of Merit in the Transportation category in ENR Magazine Southeast’s annual Best Projects of 2011 . These awards celebrate and honor the building teams that created the best projects of 2011. Categories awarded range from Best Commercial Project to Best Highway Project. This 280,000 square foot project was designed for the City of Sarasota by Jonathan Parks Architects and the General Contractor was Suffolk Construction.

The Aluminum Association of Florida (AAF) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Orlando, FL dedicated to promoting a strict code of ethics and standards amongst members within the aluminum industry.

Mullet’s Aluminum Awarded Balcony Railing Replacement Projects

In an announcement earlier this morning, Mullet’s Aluminum was awarded dual contracts by the Privateer North Condo Association and by the Privateer Condo Association South. Under terms of the contract, Mullet’s Aluminum will replace the original concrete block walls on the balconies of each tower with a new, fully welded aluminum and glass railing system fabricated and installed by Mullet’s Aluminum personnel.

“We have completed the Privateer South tower and have recently started on the Privateer North tower.” states Jay Coblentz, Director of Sales at Mullet’s Aluminum. “There has been incredibly positive feedback from owners, guests, real estate agents and residents on Longboat Key about the significant improvements that have already been made to the South tower. We are thrilled to have been selected and given the opportunity by the association boards and owners at both properties.

Constructed in 1972 and 1974 respectively, the Privateer South and North Condominium towers are located directly on the Gulf of Mexico, behind the gates at the prestigious Longboat Key Club. “The relevance in what we are doing cannot be understated.” Says Nate Yoder, Director of Marketing at Mullet’s Aluminum. “We are taking buildings that were dated with partially blocked waterfront views – and with the addition of new aluminum and glass railing – transforming each of them into a modern and current structure that aesthetically blends into their beautiful waterfront surroundings. Now, owners have an unobstructed view of the beautiful white sandy beach on Longboat Key, clear aqua green waters of the Gulf of Mexico and those gorgeous blue Florida skies. The transformation has been amazing and perhaps one of the single biggest visual changes to any structure on Longboat Key in recent years.”

Spear-heading the project on behalf of the South Privateer owners was Alan Yaruss, President of Designs & Purposes, Inc. Gulf Coast Builders Xchange member, Forristall Enterprises was contracted to complete the concrete cutting and blockwall demolition scopes.

For the 3rd consecutive year in a row, Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc. was presented the prestigious Aluminum Association of Florida’s 2009 Award of Excellence in 3 categories at the organizations annual Aluminum, Hurricane & Home Improvement tradeshow and conference held at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, FL on Saturday, September 26, 2009.

The award represents the highest standards in overall project quality and craftsmanship within the aluminum and glass industry in the State of Florida.

The first Award of Excellence was in the Miscellaneous Metals category in recognition of an aluminum and glass pedestrian bridge and walk-way system that was fabricated and installed by Mullet’s Aluminum at the new MetWest International office / retail complex in Tampa, FL. The Construction Manager was Taylor Mathis and the General Contractor was Skanska USA.

The second Award of Excellence was in the Railing category in recognition of Mullet’s Aluminums fully welded, proprietary glass railing system that was fabricated and installed at the recently completed 29-story luxury water-front condominium, Ovation, in St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to the railing, Mullet’s Aluminum also installed the metal roofing system on the top of the complex and around the perimeter of the lower levels. The Developer and General Contractor was JMC.

The 3rd Award of Excellence was in the Siding category in recognition of an upscale residential project that utilized Alcoa’s Structure Siding – named as a top 100 new product in 2007 with an R-4 insulation factor and rated for 190 mph wind speed. In addition to the siding, Mullet’s Aluminum also installed it’s MAPI metal roofing system; aluminum soffit, fascia, gutters, screen enclosure and PGT’s WinGuard windows.

J.E. Charlotte Construction Awards Contract to Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc.

There has been a growing trend to incorporate sustainable and energy efficient products that provide buildings with an environmentally friendly and responsible design. The net result is better operating efficiencies and a more earth friendly facility.

In keeping with this trend, J.E. Charlotte Construction recently awarded Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc. a contract to fabricate and install anodized aluminum sunshades above window openings at the Penn Station complex located just north of the SarasotaBradenton International Airport in University Park of Commerce.

“Not only do sunshades look great and enhance the exterior of a building, they serve a very practical purpose by significantly reducing the amount of sunlight that radiates down on window openings which reduces the amount of energy required to cool the interior space.” says Jeff Charlotte, Founder and President of J.E. Charlotte Construction. “Sunshades are a great addition to any new or existing facility and Mullet’s Aluminum has the expertise to fabricate these structures. We are pleased to have them involved on this project.” The new Penn Station complex consists of a series of office and retail buildings that incorporate a modern design with a total 61,500 square feet.
