Having recently completed a major move to their new corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility located at 6345 McIntosh Road, Sarasota, FL earlier this summer, Mullet’s Aluminum Products, Inc. was presented the prestigious Aluminum Association of Florida’s 2014 Award of Excellence for the Canopies, Walkway Covers and Carports category at the organizations State Board Meeting which was held at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL on November 8th.
Mullet’s Aluminum was contracted by Skanska USA – currently ranked as the 7th largest contractor in the US – for fabrication and installation of aluminum clad canopies at the south and west entries at the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital Courtyard Tower. There was extensive collaboration involved between teams from Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Skanska USA, the architect of record – Gresham Smith & Partners and Mullet’s Aluminum to incorporate a sleek, modern design that would provide maximum protection from environmental conditions for visitors while meeting structural load and engineering requirements. A design feature that was developed by the team at Mullet’s Aluminum for use at this project was the integration of aluminum cladding panels with custom ventilation perforations that maintains a seamless, consistent visual appearance with the overall canopy design.
The Award of Excellence represents the highest standards in overall project quality and craftsmanship within the aluminum and glass industry within the State of Florida.
The Aluminum Association of Florida (AAF) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Orlando, FL dedicated to promoting a strict code of ethics and standards amongst members within the aluminum industry.
