Residential: Railings
Railing is designed to provide safety for residents and to minimize accidental falls from an elevated area.
There are numerous railing styles and options available for residential and custom homes including welded aluminum railing, glass railing, decorative railing panels, stainless steel cable, and custom designs. The most common welded aluminum railing profile for a residential home is a vertical or horizontal picket railing system. To maximize the long-range views at coastal homes, glass railing panels, and stainless-steel cable railings are the most popular options.
Florida Building Code requires the use of laminate (when hit with an object, remains intact) glass panels for exterior applications while tempered (when hit with an object, breaks into thousands of small pieces) glass railing panels can be used inside of a home. All rail spacing must be 4” or less and designed to withstand a 200 lb load. The residential railing height is required to be a minimum of 36” in height for both exterior and interior applications.
In addition to being recognized as one of the largest manufacturers of welded aluminum railing systems in the Southeastern US, Mullet’s Aluminum also provides design-assist and installation services.
